Diva is Diva Dompe, daughter of Bauhaus drummer Kevin Haskins, former band-mate of Phantom Planet’s Alex Greenwald, and onetime bassist in Pocahaunted (where Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino started out). But if Glow Worm is anything to go by, Diva won’t need to be described by her associates in future.
Taken from her debut album The Glitter End, the song draws heavily on the sounds of the Orient. The instrumentation, melodies, and Diva’s breathless vocals are all infused with Far East flavor, but it’s cooked with American indie pop panache – kind of an Animal Corrective.
