Amidst the drearily bombastic (not the good Shaggy kind) big name rock music, shambolic presenting and cringe-worthy interviews, good old-fashioned pop music reigned supreme at last night's Brit Awards.
Girls Aloud brought showmanship while Outstanding Contribution to Music winners Pet Shop Boys finished the show with a fine medley of their greatest hits. But the stars were The Ting Tings and Estelle who brilliantly segued from the former's Shut Up And Let Me Go to the latter's American Boy before Katie White brought the house down with the storming climax to That's Not My Name - scandalously overlooked for any Best Song awards.
